On the Cross

Today was the On the cross race at Chatfield. And about 5:00 last night the snow came in, and it snowed a lot in just an hour. So I knew it was gonna make for a muddy and fun race. The course was mostly single track which got muddy after all the races went before us. For our team we had Andrew, Yannick, Robin, Kevin and myself racing in the Open race.
After the first lap in the lead group there were about 8 guys including Robin, Yannick and myself. Then the race began to break up some more and then we all found ourslelfs chasing the lead group of 5. So it was Yannick Robin and myself working together to get back into it. Though around one of the muddy corners I was on Yannicks wheel when he hit the deck, causing me to use his real wheel as a ramp and pulling a superman over him. We got right back up and kept on chasing. Then with about 3 laps to go I found myself alone trying to chase down the lead group of five. Then on the last lap on the last corner I just had to hit the deck causing the guy 10seceonds behind me to catch up and pass me in the sprint. So I eneded up 7th place which was not too bad. And Kevin was unable to finish due to his pedal coming completly off on the third lap.
Of course I am just starting to feel good on the bike and I can't even race tomorrow. Because we have to leave ealrly tomorrow to try and make it back up to Grand Junction for school on Monday. The passes are already snow packed and are expecting anywhere from 2-12 inches up in the mountains. And we can't even bring our cross bike back, because we drove down in a little Honda Civic which will not make it back over, so were catching a ride with our room mate who has all wheel drive but has no room for our cross bikes. So I guess we can't even ride cross again until Nationals. Unless we can make it back next week for states but im guessing the weather will be similar to how it is now on the passes.

New Jersey

Well this past weekend was my first USGP in New Jersey. We got into Newark airport in New Jersey 2hours late with all the delays. So we didn't get into our hotel until 4:00am on Friday. Got to sleep in and then got to pre-ride the course. It was a sweet course nice and fast and fun. Then it all turned from there. The sky's opened up and down poured. The course was a wreck. The mud was insaine. It was more of a running race then it was a bike race. In the end I got my butt kicked. Though it was an awesome time and a great experience.
Getting the pay check

We were suppost to go to the next USGP in Portland but thats not gonna happen. Our team budget is low and its the week before Nationals and the weekend before finals. So i guess our next big race is gonna be Nationals in Kansas on Dec. 11 or so I think.

Now im taking a couple days off for a little break. Then its back to some harder training to get a good result at Nationals.

First UCI races!!!

WOW those guys are fast. This past weekend was the UCI Boulder Cup a C2 and C1 race. It was crazy. On Saturday seemed like 80% of the race was sand that I could not ride threw but the big boys like Wicks, Trebon, Wells, Powers all those guys made it look like a road section. Though I got pulled with about 5laps to go on Saturday. I think every bump I hit my rib was not happy. So that would of been the whole time. It hurt so bad epecially after the races.
On Sunday I did a little bit better finishing around 47th but still suckey and still got lapped with 3laps to go. Though on the results they gave me a DNS which is a bunch of bull. And both day I got screwed and started in the back row, so I really had no chance from the begining. Though the crowds were awesome, it was crazy how many people where at the races both days.

Though were taking this weekend off to see if my rib can heal, though the doctor says its gonna take 6 weeks. And then the weekend after that were heading to New Jersey for out first Grand Prix of cyclocross, looking foward to it.
